The Night the Dinosaurs Walked Softly
The room was quiet and dim. A small lamp made a golden pool. Sam held a soft dino plush and listened. The house breathed slow. "I wish dinosaurs were gentle at night," came a whisper into the blanket.
The curtains puffed, just a little. The moon slid up like a silver coin. Outside, the trees swayed. A low thump came. Not loud. Just slow. Like a giant heartbeat far away.
A long neck rose beyond the fence. Leaves rustled. Chew, chew, chew. A gentle giant took one leaf, then another. Its eyes were kind. Its steps were soft as pillows.
A horned friend traced slow circles in the grass. Swish went the tail. Swish, swish, rest. Tiny ones padded by. Tap, tap, tap. No rush. Just night sounds and moon glow.
The air smelled like wet leaves and warm dirt. Breath in, like the giant. Breath out, like the tail. In… and out. The room felt bigger, then softer, like a mossy hollow.
A wide foot pressed the soil. It made a puddle-ring, round and smooth. Stars blinked. The horned friend blinked back. The long neck bowed, like a goodnight nod.
Back in bed, the plush felt extra soft. The lamp clicked lower. Chew, chew. Swish, swish. Tap, tap. The sounds grew small. Eyelids drifted down. The night walked softly too.
Good night, little explorer. The dinosaurs are resting. So can you.
